Midnight Musings

In order to keep myself awake I’ve been compiling list of things “to do” when no one else in the world seems awake. Simply getting up and turning on the light does not work anymore (plus who would want to wake up my darling husband).

This is Us, Right Now

Dear Struggling Mom, It’s OK to Hate This

The expectation versus the reality of having children is wildly different. Every stage is a challenge and nothing at all like you imagined. Above all, it’s harder than you ever expected. There are so many parts of motherhood that just plain suck, and it’s ok to hate them.

The Magic of Christmas

Now, I stopped believing in magic years ago. But there, laced throughout the words of her story it lay: Magic. Perhaps it was the beauty of the story or the sincerity with which she told it … maybe it was my hope that my children would someday feel the love that I have for them as they recount a story about their childhood in much the same way … but, whatever the reason, the story breathed new Christmas life into me.

“Me Time” is Mandatory.

We are heading into one of the busiest and most stressful times of year, adding to the everyday stress of life.  My advice (to parents and non-parents) is to make time (even just 15mins) for you.
