A Summer in Photos

I’d love to say that I have a great blog post for you today, but really I don’t.  It’s summer, the living is easy, we’re having fun crossing things off the summer bucket list, and the current schedule just doesn’t allot for thought provoking, well-written pieces for me.  Sad but true.  So the interest of keeping it real, here is a glimpse into what we have been doing lately.

Lots of afternoon naps for Kitten, some planned, some not so much:

Playtime with Daddy:

Berry picking (strawberries and blueberries):

Sleepovers with the cousins:

Our annual trip to the Buttonwood Farms Sunflowers for Wishes event:

The CTWorking Moms ran the Red Dress 5k, but Lovey ran her first race that day too and wanted to hang her medal with mine.  How could I resist?

Kitten and I took a ride on the Rocky Hill/Glastonbury ferry (and liked it so much we went back two days later with Honey and Lovey):

Honey and I celebrated our wedding anniversary with me taking an overnight trip to Newburyport with the girls.  It was awesome, I highly recommend the Garrison Inn and Mill River Winery if you are planning a getaway in the near future.  We lucked out and got last minute tickets to James Taylor at Meadows from a friend so we got to celebrate together after all!

And last, but certainly not least, the CT Working Moms had the opportunity to hear Glennon Melton speak and meet her afterward.  The event was put on by 2Moms on a Mission, an amazing non-profit out of Enfield doing incredible things for the community.  I encourage you to check them out.  The Glennon event was so so good.  I laughed, I cried, I had some major a-ha moments.  She was profound, in a very real, relatable way (if that makes sense).  As you can imagine, I was pretty excited to meet her after hearing her speak.  This picture sums it up nicely.

Yesterday we celebrated Lovey’s 7th birthday with a trip to Old Lyme Shores.  Honey went there every summer with his family so when we were invited down for the day we jumped at the chance to bring his dad with us.  It was a full circle life moment for sure, and I will admit to getting a little teary at least once.

The rest of the summer is just going to be what it will be but we have a few more adventures up our sleeves and a vacation to New Hampshire.  I’m going to keep training for my September 1/2 in this brutal heat and start looking forward to August 25th when I DON’T have to go back to work.  What have you been up to this summer?  Share your favorite family trips.
