Top 5 Moms Night Out Ideas

Every mom deserves a fun night out with her friends every once in a while. A time where she doesn’t have to say, “Please don’t pick your nose” or ask, “Did you wash your hands after you went potty?” As I’ve mentioned before, we moms need our ladies nights out. Sometimes our sanity depends on it. Lucky for you I’ve compiled a list of my top 5 favorite tried and true moms night out ideas.

1. Pottery Painting
I’ve done this a few times with friends. Our go-to place has been The Pottery Piazza in Plainville. We love it because you can bring food and drinks in with you to enjoy while you paint. Prices vary depending on the piece of pottery you choose. I chose to paint plates, but there are plenty of other items to choose from including planters, soap dishes, figurines, bowls, platters, and lots more! It’s a great time to catch up with friends, munch on snacks, sip wine, and do something crafty!

2. Wine Tasting at a Vineyard
No, you certainly don’t need to go all the way to Napa Valley to enjoy a lovely vineyard and wine tasting. We have a bunch right here in Connecticut for you to explore. Grab your girlfriends, a picnic lunch, and enjoy a lovely afternoon while taste-testing different types of wine. You even get to keep your glass! Warning: it will be hard to leave without buying at least one bottle to take home!

3. Spa Night
Who says you need to spend big bucks to get some spa treatment? Why not create your own spa experience with some friends? Face masks, manicures, pedicures – yes, please! Prepare yourself for a lot of laughs and relaxation. What mom DOESN’T need that? Oh, and if you are reading this and give good massages, want to be best friends? I could certainly use one of those this week.

4. An Oprah-Style Favorite Things Party
Remember watching Oprah’s favorite things episodes where she’d surprise the audience with lots of fun giveaways? Well, here’s your chance to become both Oprah (the giver) and an audience member (receiver)…on a bit of a smaller scale of course. The idea of a favorite things party is to think of something that you love, hence why it’s called a “favorite things party.” Then, you buy one to give each friend attending the party. I would recommend agreeing on an amount of money everyone is comfortable spending on each present. For instance, if you’re doing this with 4 other friends and you agree to spend $10 per person, you’ll spend $40 (unless you buy one for yourself too). Obviously, the bigger the group, the more money you’ll spend so this kind of party typically works really well with a smaller group of friends. It’s a lot of fun and everyone leaves with a fun bag of goodies!

5. Comedy Club Show
Nothing relieves stress like laughter, which is why it doesn’t get much better than a night out at the comedy club with a group of girlfriends. I’ve been to both City Steam’s Brew HaHa in Hartford and The Funny Bone Comedy Club in Manchester and have never been disappointed. Nothing beats laughing so hard your face hurts. Laughter is definitely the best medicine!

Now go grab your calendar, call your girlfriends, and start planning your next moms night out!

  1. I used to do a favorite things party with some friends, but a little differently. It started with a “bring your favorite food” party and morphed into “come as your favorite…” (ie come as your favorite Madonna…). The last “favorites” party we had was “come in your favorite pajamas and bring your favorite wine” and we had homemade spa treatments. Lots of fun and the more the merrier. I can dig up the “favorite Madonna” pics and give everyone a good laugh.

  2. These are such good ideas…So when are you arranging a CTWM girls nite? Any one of these ideas will work for me! LOL Great post Carly! You are always so creative in everything you do.
