There is something to be said about the importance of schedules and routines. Actually, there’s a whole BOATLOAD to say about it- like how absent at least some semblance of a routine or schedule, all hell breaks loose.
For the past two weeks we’ve all enjoyed the fun and amazement that is the holiday season. What happens when you take Christmas Eve and Christmas morning excitement, a few days off to bask in a leftover Christmas cookie coma and movie marathon with kids, and throw in a few late nights and more new toys that can barely all fit in the living room?
Oh wait just one hot minute- let’s throw in a SNOW DAY IN THERE TOO, while we’re at it!
I was never really one to be a rigid parent. We have rules and boundaries, but sometimes, those fall to the wayside for special occasions or treat days. That’s all well and good, but throw in a long Christmas break and now the onslaught of another snow storm, and you get a recipe for disaster! Naps are off schedule, sugar highs are ruling the day, new toys are literally littering every room in the house, and the word “No” hasn’t been uttered in OMGIDON’TKNOWHOWLONG.
It’s time to get the house back onto its normal routine, people! I don’t know about you, but we’re all ready for some good-old-fashioned-back-to-normal up in here. Whether it be everyone eating green vegetables every day, and not eating Christmas cookies for dessert after every meal (and by every meal, I also mean breakfast……….), or making sure the day has some quiet time and room for naps, I think we are all a little worn down from the holiday extravaganza that was the month of December, and looking forward to a bright and fresh New Year! (with a little bit of that back to normal routine!)
