Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and although it may not be a major holiday, it’s very special to me none-the-less. My husband and I started dating on Valentine’s Day a whopping 13 years ago! Now that we have two little girls to share it with, I love it even more. It’s not about the flowers or candy and I certainly don’t like the commercialism of it all. I simply think of it as a day to celebrate LOVE so I’m going to share with you some creative ways to do just that (without breaking the bank of course)!
I find so many incredible projects over on Skip to my Lou and there’s no shortage of great Valentine’s Day ideas either. I’m planning to make my own version of these DIY Scratch-off Lottery Tickets for my sweetheart <wink wink>. Think about how much fun your kids would have making these for friends, or scratching ones you make for them!

Why not save some money by downloading these free printable Valentines? They’re really cute to boot…and there’s even one for your child’s teacher! Look how adorable these “You Rock!” cards are for your child’s classmates!

Here’s an idea for making some handmade Valentines for friends and family members and there’s even a step by step video tutorial on Parents.com:

How about saying “I love you” with food?! There are some really adorable Valentine’s Day themed sweet treats that you can check out over on the Parents.com website including (Let’s Make) Whoopie Pies and these adorable Lip Smackers!

Putting a little thought and effort into a Valentine, whether it’s a card or sweet treat, can really make someone feel extra special. So what do you think? Are you going to try any of these out?
As always, I love your crafty suggestions! My girl is super thrilled about Valentine’s Day this year and I’m trying to bring the craft on for her sake! Thanks for sparking my motivation to go beyond just some crayons and construction paper!
Can you be my mom? ♥
