Magical Monday: I’m a Goddess Because…..

Are you sensing a theme around here on ctworkingmoms.com lately? By now I’m SURE you’ve noticed how empowered we’ve been feeling since our Goddess Gallery photo-shoot. And I’m SURE you’ve even noticed how much we want ALL OTHER WOMEN to feel this way too and will stop at nothing to inspire you to embrace your Inner Goddess!

Do you know why this is so important? Because we Goddesses are going to change the world! Was it Gandhi who said that “western women will save the world”? Whoever said it, I totally believe it. But before we do that, we have to understand and embrace how TRULY POWERFUL WE ALREADY ARE! And that begins with the simple-but-not-so-easy first step of self-acceptance. We live in a culture that has been stead-fastingly teaching us NOT to accept ourselves since birth so that we will buy the next hot product that will make us just a little closer to perfect. I’m sure we all know that THAT current formula works like shit (and frankly, I think it’s one HUGE OL’ conspiracy, but that is a topic for another day).

The ONLY thing we can possibly do now is to say “F*ck it! This is ME! I’m AWESOME and I don’t CARE what anyone else thinks!” THAT is powerful. Those are the words of a Goddess. Every single one of us has this in us.

So this Magical Monday, please join me in recognizing that inner MAGNIFICENCE! Give your Inner Goddess a shout-out and maybe let her come out and play a little more.

I’m a Goddess Because:

* I birthed all three of my babies at home alone all by myself! I draw strength from this whenever I need to.

* I’m always doing what I can to be the best I can be. I embrace change even if it’s scary and I NEVER chicken out!

* I always look for the good in people and I really get off on doing random acts of kindness.

* I’m starting to set firmer boundaries, say what I mean (even if it makes someone else uncomfortable), and not apologize for who I am!

* I really like to have fun, drink good beer, and swear and I KNOW my inner Goddess approves!

What makes up your Inner Goddess? Maybe your Goddess and my Goddess should share a beer and talk it over! ♥

  1. I’m a goddess because:

~ I work in a demanding and male-dominated profession (mechanical engineering) and do pretty well at it.
~ I grew, birthed, and nourished an amazing baby girl who has grown into an awesome, fun toddler.
~ I returned to and finished my second master’s degree when our daughter was 13 months old, while working full time and with a husband who was working afternoon/evening shifts for most of that time.
~ I decided to get off my rear and start running and working out again, even though I’m overweight and slow; making time for my health and fitness has been empowering!
~ I’m confident that I/we have made the choices that are right for us, but I know I’m far less judgmental of others’ parenting choices now that I’m a mom myself.

    1. Katie, you are one GORGEOUS, POWERFUL Goddess and I’m pleased to be in your company! Keep on ROCKN’! ♥

  2. Love this post!

    I’m a goddess because:

*I’m learning more and more to listen to my inner voice.
*I’m incredibly driven to help women and make the world a little better.
*I survived getting through an extremely traumatic birth of my daughter and the aftermath it caused.
*I’m able to reach out for help from people when I really need it.
*I’m less judgemental now than I have ever been – in large part because of my experiences as a mom.
*It’s really important to me to tell people I care about what’s unique and special about them, what I love about them and how much I appreciate them. Can you imagine if we all did this??

    1. Oh, you make my heart melt a little bit, Dear Sister! I feel EXACTLY the same as your last one ~ I have always done this because it is so important to me. I can’t imagine anything else. And YES, if everyone did this it would be a BEAUTIFUL world ~ I do believe we are creating it. ♥

  3. I am a Goddess because I jump feet first into anything I’m driven to do and refuse defeat.

Because I’ve run as many triatlons as I’ve had children.

Because I’ve recognized that I am – I am the cellist and the beer lover from pre-marriage, I am the wife and adventurer from pre-baby, and I am the loving mother, and they all live together inside of me.

If your inner Goddess ever finds her way to New Mexico, mine knows some micro brews she’d dig 🙂

    1. Shelly, this is NOTHING I don’t LOVE about EVERYTHING you just said! You are one ROCKING Goddess! And BELIEVE ME, New Mexico is on my list of things to do! ♥

  4. I love you and your inner spirit! You keep on smile on my face all day after reading your posts!
